How Much More?
Archived on June 30th, 2003
In recent weeks the Father has revealed His love towards me in an unusual way. Being fond of animals, I own a Long-haired Chihuahua who is 4 years old. He is spoiled like a little child. We treat him as one of the members of the family, and in reality, he is. On occasion he does something he shouldn't do and I scold him. His ears fall back and he lays down in submission, hoping I will not be mad at him for long. The truth is, I can't stay upset with him for too long. As most pet owners know, you become attached to them and love them like a family member.
It was shortly after one of these scoldings that I realized: If I can "forgive" him that easy and love him like that How Much More the Father must love me. Through my relationship with my dog, the Father revealed to me His love therein. There are many times in scripture that God shows us that love.
Proverbs 15:11
(11) Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
Here in proverbs we see that if the Father sees all the destruction that is upon the earth, and all those in Hades crying out for relief are in his ears, then how much more he hears the troubles of the hearts of His children.
Matthew 7:8-12
(8) For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
(9) Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
(10) Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
(11) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
(12) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
In Matthew we see Jesus using a few analogies to express the love of God. The analogy is of a Father and son. If a man asks his son for a piece of bread, does he give him a stone to eat? Or if he asks for a fish, would he give him a snake?
If we are by nature, wicked, in our dealings, then wouldn't our Father who is righteous and Holy give us things that we ask for? Notice, these are good things, things that we need, not want. Things that go with His plan for us.
In Luke we see this occurrence go a little further.
Luke 11:13
(13) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Here we see that good thing as the Holy Spirit. He who asks for it, shall receive it.
Luke 12:24
(24) Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
If our Father takes the time to care for this part of creation, think of how much more he will take care of us, whom He created for his pleasure and Glory?
(Revelation 4:11, Isaiah 43:7)
Luke 12:27-28
(27) Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
(28) If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Our Father loves us very much and if He has taken the time to adorn a plant in this way, think of how he will care for us and keep us clothed and taken care of.
Finally; we come to the purpose. Our Father, The God of Gods, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, loves us beyond what words can say. So it is action that must be done, and He did that.....
Hebrews 9:13-15
(13) For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
(14) How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
(15) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called mght receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Through His death on the cross, the blood that was shed became His statement of His love for us. A parent will lay down his/her life for one of their children. Our Father has done this, through His Son, Yahshua. The flesh wrapped around that Holy Spirit. It is through whom, we have eternal inheritance. How Much more shall His blood pay for our redemption and sanctification if His Holy Blood was spilled for our sake? Much more than any blood of a goat or bull can pay, for their blood could only pay for the sins of the moment. But His blood has redeemed us unto salvation and paid for our sins for all time.
This being true, How Much More should we love him? How Much More should we try to please Him? How Much More should we learn of Him through His word, bringing to us faith in Him? Children, there is no number we can place here, no percentage. We can only give him all we can, dedicate ourselves to Him and do His will to the best of our ability. That is really all he asks of us. Believe in Him this day, and repent of your deeds before him with your mouth. Invite Him to become the Lord of your Life. Tell Him you love Him. He will Love you so Much more. Amen.
In His Service,
